The 1st September

Alright everybodyy...

It's is official.

Autumn has begun!

Can you guess that I'm just a little bit obsessed with this season...

I spent the last days of summer and the first days of Autumn this year up in the lowlands of Scotland with my family- home of the brilliant Scottish poet Robert Burns, famous for works such as 'Auld Lang Syne' and 'Tom O' Shanter'. It is one of the most diverse and interesting landscapes I have ever traveled around in the UK. Being a southern girl I am used to rolling green fields and rows of harvested hay in the Autumn- seeing sparse open moorland, dotted with blooming purple heather and dry stone walls was a refreshing change.

There is just something indescribable about the feeling of the wind through your hair and the slight chill in the air that reminds you Autumn is on it's way and so to honour the first day of Autumn my friend Hazel and I went for walk along the open moorland just above the house we were staying at.

It was incredibly windy so skirts and dresses were out of the question and since it was much colder up in Scotland, the fashion became a lot more layered, with woolly jumpers and long sleeved tops replacing tank tops and short sleeves.

I wanted to steer away slightly from the traditional Autumn colours of cranberry and burnt orange and instead focus on Autumnal textures. In turn I chose to wear black skinny jeans from urbanoutfitters.co.uk with a floaty white crop top from brandy Melville (brandymelvilleusa.com) to create a simple base which meant I could pick up on different colours and textures with my accessories, such as my wool tartan scarf which I found on a small stall in Edinburgh. I paired this with a knitted oatmeal cardigan from Fatface.com and my Jackwills.co.uk navy tweed blazer. I wore this with my thick wool grey socks (it was cold okay!) and my brand new *excited face* Chelsea boots also from fat face.
We met this gorgeous dog on our walk! *sighs from the cuteness*

Hazel chose mustard as her base colour picking a floral shirt from HM.com and woolly Joules.com mustard cardigan to compliment the flowers on the top. Adding a simple pair of denim jeans and Boden.co.uk brown loafers she was set for the Autumn chills. Together we strolled among the gorse and long grass breathing in the fresh Scottish air.

I hope you liked this blog and it has inspired you to take a trip up to Scotland, trust me- you won't be disappointed!

I shall see you very soon! Byeee....
