Make-up, make-up, make-up

Alrighty Everyone!

I have had a few requests for my everyday make-up look and so I thought that I would just bite the bullet and give it my best shot!

My complexion is quite pale, very 'English rose' as some might say, with moss green, almond shape eyes and softer cheekbones. I have sensitive skin that is medium to oily and can sometimes be quite spotty but I do get quite lucky in the fact that I don't get spots very often. (However, today has not been my lucky day!)

I don't wear very much make-up, living in the countryside and being a full time student has taught me that wearing a full face of make-up is pointless as it will soon get blown off, rained upon or if I get up late by accident (or I just turn off my alarm by accident...) |I just won't have the time- so I tend to keep it quite neutral and muted.

The only exception to this rule is lipstick...

As you may have noticed I love to wear vibrant, Autumnal lip colours all year round. I am a sucker for deep berry, spiced red and dusty pink shades. I have found that these warmer tones of lipstick suit my pale 'English' complexion and that they add a little something else to my otherwise natural appearance.

I begin my make-up routine with using an aloe vera life plan gel, which you can pick up from Boots.com for around £5, as a moisturizer. I find that it preps my face really well for foundation as it is incredibly moisturizing but not too heavy and being 99% aloe Vera it has no harmful chemicals for my sensitive skin. I add a really light covering of Nivea BB cream in the colour light (which can also be found in Boots for £5.99) over the top of gel  to even out my skin tone before I use foundation.

For my foundation I am using my Nars sheer glow in the colour 'Mont blanc' which I blend with the real techniques buffing blush which I found in Boots.com. I cannot rave about this foundation enough, I know it's incredibly popular and hyped but I can honestly say that I have never used such an amazing foundation. It blends beautifully, looks incredibly natural and dewy whilst covering up any spots or under eye circles. It is pricey at £31 a bottle but a very little goes a very long way and if you aren't sure you can just ask for a small tester pot for free from your nearest Spacenk.com and witness it's outstandingness for yourself!

Because of my lack of time in the morning I don't tend to contour or add blush on a day to day basis, however for my eye make-up I do like to put a little bit more effort and often find myself reaching for the brand No7, as it does lovely eye shadow palettes and liners which are not too expensive, but are great quality. Also No7 refuses to use airbrushing in their promotion images which is really refreshing for the beauty industry!

For my base eye shadow I use my Maybelline colour tattoo in 'Rose Gold' and then using a small brush I just blend the darker, aubergine shade of my No 7 'stay perfect' eye-shadow duo (royal) into the crease- which you can pick up for £8.50 from Boots. I find this red toned purple contrasts well with my green eyes and is neutral enough that it doesn't stand out too harshly. I define my eyes by adding a light line of No7 'stay perfect amazing eye pencil' (£6.50 from Boots) into my waterline- as it gives the best definition for my almond shape eyes. I finish with a sweep of  'extreme length' No7 mascara (£12.50, again from Boots- can you spot the reoccurring theme!).

Finally is my favourite, Lipstick. Today I chose my deep red Mac lipstick in the colour 'spice it up'(£15.50). I used a fairly light coat and just blended it into my lips to create a really soft warm but subtle colour perfect for school!

I really hope some of you found this helpful and it made sense- just let me know if there are any other looks you want me to do and I shall give it my best shot!

I'll see you very soon- goodbyee...

  1. I just found your blog and I love it! This make up post was very helpful as I have zero experience with make up. I would also like to say that I love the jewellery that you wear (especially your bracelets) and was wondering where you get your jewellery from.
    Thanks

    1. Thank you very much!
My bracelets are fabric and leather tie on bands which I find at festivals and the rings I wear tend to be silver Celtic designs but like the bracelets I don't have a specific shop which I buy them from- apart from two of my rings which I found in a small jewelry shop called Crystals (http://www.crystalshop.co.uk/). My earrings mostly come from accessorize (accessorize.com)- where you can, also find lots of rings and bracelets similar to the ones I have!
      I hope that helps!
