Fashion week's... Part 1
Alright everyone!
In honour of one of the most diverse and fascinating weeks in the English calender, I thought I would pay homage to some of my favourite garments from my favourite designers. This will be another blog that is split into two parts, with this one focusing on the first two fashion weeks-New York and London and the second looking at Milan and Paris.
I have picked my top 5 collections from the New York and London Spring/Summer ready to wear to show you. I hope you enjoy and I shall see you very soon!

Okay, calm Katherine, calm.
The fashion weeks have begun. With New York last week and London just finished, the world is in the midst of spring/summer collections and I shall let you into a little secret... I am in heaven.. as you might have been able to guess from the abundance of exclamation marks!
As you may have noticed if you've read my previous blogs, I love to wear floaty, ethereal dresses and tweed blazers. My style is fairly folky and bohemian, so naturally I will be drawn to designers who play on that theme quite a bit, such as Elie Saab, Mulberry, Burberry and Oscar de la Renta. These are the kinds of designers I gain the most inspiration from when it comes both to looking at buying stand out pieces for my wardrobe and how to style these pieces. Hence today I am going to show you how I gain inspiration from a certain designers collection and incorporate this into my everyday style

Oscar de la Renta
For my Oscar de la Renta inspired outfit, I chose to pick up on the prints and colours featured in my favourite dress of his collection, which was shown in New York.
Okay, can I just start with the colour of this dress. Unbelievable. The tone of blue is so refreshing and different for summer and would be brilliant as a base colour to pair accessories with, as demonstrated by de la Renta with his abundance of embellishment across the front of the gown.
The closest replica I had to the mint blue gown was pale blue dress from Jackwills.co.uk, it also, like the del la Renta dress flares out from the waste line, creating a very flattering hourglass figure. To pick up on the floral theme embellished into the collection I chose to wrap around my waist my floral Fatface.com shirt. I thought this created an easy and cute, unique twist on summer fashion, which added a lot more dimension to what would have been a simple sundress.
Ellie Tahari
This outfit to me shouts out country shabby chic. It is effortless and comfy yet stylish and those trousers! Just wow...
The best thing about this outfit is the neutral colours, like the Oscar de la Renta gown they give a fresh take on spring and summer. I attempted to pick up on this feel through my colour choices. I tried to keep them very basic and classic by going for black, grey and off white.
In turn I chose a simple Victorian style blouse from RiverIsland.com which buttoned through the front and a loose grey cardigan, I then added my classic black high waisted jeans from Urbanoutfitters.co.uk and to complete the look held my Burberry scarf. I liked how Tahari used the scarf in her look to create dimension but I wanted to add a pop of colour into my outfit, which the basic colours of the Burberry tartan allowed me to do.
Mulberrry in bloom
To represent Mulberry's, block, shapes and intricate, vivid patterns I wore my paisly, shift dress from UrbanOutfitters.co.uk
Mulberry have created what I believe to be the perfect summer dress. It is a loose but not baggy, allowing you to remain cool on those overly hot summer days. The simple block cut of the garment has a lovely drape and consequently falls perfectly on the thighs. Furthermore the pattern and blue colbat colour are bright enough that they subtly hint of warm, sunny days, without screaming summer.
I also love how the intricacy of the pattern means that you don't have to worry about any accessories. The pattern itself is enough to make you stand out among the crowd. However because the pattern is so bold, it often needs to be balanced out with a casual cardigan or a simple jumper, of which mine is from Primark.com.
Belstaff
For this amazing structured look created by Belstaff, I wanted to draw on the block shape but give it more of a vintage twist, hence I went for the classic sixties mini!
To add an edge I wore my black leather jacket which I found on a market stall on a visit to London. Everyone needs to invest in a black leather jacket- it can be worn and looks amazing with anything, so it's a win, win situation!
To counter balance the heavy structure of the leather and wool, underneath my leather jacket I wore my white floaty brandymellvilleusa.com cropped top (which I have been wearing non-stop lately!). This softened the outfit, giving it a bit more dimension. This a great transitional look, it can be worn in any season, with tights and boats in the winter or bare legs and sandals in the summer.
Burberry Porsum
Last, but by no means least, is this incredible combination of fairy and biker chic by Burberry, which I have to say is one of my favourite looks of all of the catwalks of New York and London.
I love how Burberry have used a taffeta, layered gown which by nature is ethereal and exquisite, against a structured jacket which just like Belstaff creates a block shape. This for me, worked so well, with the structure counteracting the loose billowing folds of the chiffon gown. It was the perfect example of how spring and summer fashion should be worn. Floaty and free with an edge.
To add my own little twist on the outfit, I paired my ever-amazing, for it has made a fair few appearances, Yumidirect.co.uk sky-blue, chiffon smock dress with a structured vivid, scarlet cord blazer by HM.com. The contrast between the vivid red and pale blue added a twist on the paler colours of Burberry but still represented the two-tone textured outfits really well. Consequently of all the outfits it is the one I would be most drawn towards wearing during the summer months.
