Autumn essentials
Alrighty everyone!
Welcome back to another Autumn themed blog, oh how I do love this time of year!
Today I decided that I would put together my top 6 essentials that I think every girl needs in her Autumn wardrobe to survive the cold, wind, rain and sunshine.
Since I am moving to university in a couple of days, and one far more North than the sunny South West, I have had to have a good ole sort out of my rather full wardrobe and condense my clothing collection into one more manageable and a lot warmer. This has really made me evaluate which tyoes and styles of clothes I consider to be essential, especially since Autumn in England can range from sunny late September and early October to the more cold and darker late Autumn months of November.
Therefore as you can probably guess, jumpers and coats are a high priority on my list along with some classic boots and lots of thick textured fabrics.
So without further-ado here are my top essentials for Autumn that I really could not live without, I hope you enjoy and I shall see you very soon, goodbye!
Nothing says Autumn more than berry lips, whether that is a deep red like this Kate Moss Rimmel 107, plums or blackberry like the Charlotte Tilbury 'Glastonberry', there is a shade for everyone! Even if you are wearing the most simple outfit a berry lip can transform your look completely and instantly put you in a fall mood.

Wool
Wooly jumpers and cardigans are one of the best things about Autumn. Feeling cosy and warm as you take an early morning cycle ride across campus is, quite possibly one of the best feelings. You are in your own little bubble of warmth which no chill can penetrate. I live in jumpers and cardigans in the autumn, even when wearing summer dresses I find a thick woolly cardigan can completely transform the outfit into Autumn/Winter.
Coats
Coats are an essential, what would we do without them when the cold sets in. This particular coat from Topshop is perfect for Autumn as its not too heavy and thick but is warm enough to add an extra layer. The duck egg blue injects a bit of colour into dark months and the open nature of he coat also helps to keep you cool in early Autumn.
Tweed
At any time of year tweed is one of my favourite fabrics, I don't think I could count on two hands the amount of tweed skirts, jacets and shorts I own! The mix of colours is warming as is the wool origin of the fabic and you can pick up on your outfits through the mix of colours, particularly this green tweed jacket from jack wills matchs most outfits I own perfectly.
Tartan
The Scottish classic, much like tweed its range of olours makes it the perfect fabric for layering with many different coloured outfits. I particularly love wearing tartan scarfs as I find they really bring together an outfit, by adding both colour and texture.
I'm usually a summer girl but this blog might have me change my ways and become an autumn girl! I adore the cream cardigan, can I ask were you got it from?. I'm desperately trying to build up my jumper/cardigan (since being a summer girl I'm very under prepared) collection for autumn and winter, so do you know what the best shops to find the nicest pieces would be? Also, my favourite designer is Elizabeth and James and I followed their shows extensively though the Autumn/Winter 2015-2016 fashion show and I noticed they went crazy for roll/turtle-necks (sorry I'm not 100% sure what they are called in the UK) could I pick your brains again and ask if you know any good shops that sell them, or if you have any of your own where did you purchase them from because I have been looking for so long yet I cant find the right one, and I'm sure it would be an excellent addition to by growing winter wardrobe. Oh and hope you have a fantastic time at university! I hope the transition from the south to the north isn't to bad Haha
ReplyDeleteThank you! I found the cardigan in a charity shop so I'm not quite sure where it is from but I would recommend Topshop jumpers, Jack Wills jumpers and vintage and charity shops in general are amazing for finding unique pieces. I adore roll neck jumpers, they are one of my all time winter staples and I get most of mine from Woolovers and Asos! Thank you, its been very hectic since I arrived and a lot colder than I expected!
DeleteHope uni goes well, im in my second year and I can honestly say it will be of the most exciting year of your life! Will you continue blogging when your at uni? You also mentioned you owned a tweed skirt, and was wondering where you got it from or where I would be able to find one since I think I need one in my wardrobe for autumn X
