Fresh Summer Make-up
Alright Everyone!
I am in a very Summery mood today what with all the warm weather and blue skies, hence this blog and probably most of my blogs over the next few months will be centered around the theme of Summer, original I know!
So I thought I would combine my Summer mood with the few requests I have had to create a fresh and pretty make-up look. However, I don't wear a lot of make-up and therefore seriously lack in the make-up skills department and have a rather limited collection. So a special thanks goes to Hazel and her extensive eye-shadow collection! Hence this is a very basic, but hopefully useful attempt at me showing you how I do my make-up on an every day basis in the Summer months. I hope you enjoy and I will see you very soon!

I tend to have a very light base as I don't like wearing heavy make-up because I find it clogs up my pores and prevents my skin from breathing so I only put on a bit of concealer and foundation. I would also highly recommend moisturising before putting on your foundation as it helps to create a thin layer between your skin and your foundation. The concealer I opted for was the Clinique all about eyes which is the perfect colour for my pale skin tone and has a really lovely coverage. I then blended my trusty Nars Sheer Glow foundation in the colour Mont Blonc into my concealer using my Real Techniques buffing brush. I tend to pour a little onto my hand and then dip the brush in and out so lightly building up my base and making sure to really buff the product into my skin to ensure that it looks as natural as possible.
To be in keeping with the fresh and pretty glow I wanted my skin to have, I applied a small amount of Kiko Glow touch blush in the colour Hibiscus to the apples of my cheeks. I particularly love this colour as it wasn't to dark or too light, it was just the perfect pink! Not only that but it matched the pink toned eye-shadow I opted for beautifully.
To create this eye-shadow look I applied a swash of the Kiko long lasting shadow stick in the colour 36 and blended it using a clean fluffy brush. If you love pretty eye-shadow colours then this is the product for you, its a stunning iridescent pink which really catches the light and is brilliant for dressing up or down! To add a bit more depth to the eyes, I worked the eye-shadow in the colour Burn Out from the Urban Decay Naked three palette into my crease, bringing some of the colour down underneath my waterline to round off the look. To finish off the eyes I applied a coat of my old favourite, the No7 extreme length mascara!
For my Lips I applied a coat of the Mac lipstick in the colour Fanfare. A perfect yellow toned pink shade, its not too bright nor too nude, so perfect for a Summer's day and bringing the whole look together!

Thank you so much for this post, its exactly what I had in mind! I am a newby to mac cosmetics and was wondering if you could steer me in the right direction in what are the best products? Also I know this sounds silly but your glittery nail varnish is perfect for festivals, what brand is it?
ReplyDeleteThat's okay, I don't really use many Mac products apart from the lipsticks but I really like the Mac pigments and their eye-shadows. However some of my favourite lipsticks by Mac are Spice it Up, Patisserie and Mocha! Thank you, I did wear it to a recent festival, its from Nails Inc!
DeleteThat urban decay palette looks amazing, the shade "Trick" especially. I was wondering if I could have some advice? I was thinking about investing in a pair of boyfriend jeans for summer but in hesitant, I'm not sure if they are appropriate for summer and I'm not sure where is the best place to buy them? Your advice would be very helpful
ReplyDeleteThat's my favourite shade! I love boyfriend jeans, they are definitely appropriate for the summer. Mine are old ones from Levi which I found on Ebay but you could go to Topshop, Urban Outfitters or GAP. I tend to wear mine with a pair of sandles or heels in the evening!
DeleteI <3 your stripy sailor top, wheres it from?
ReplyDeleteThank you, its from Urban Outfitters!
