Sea, Stripes and Wax Jackets

Alright Everyone!

The sun was shining, the birds were singing and the wind was a soft gentle breeze, perfect weather for a trip to the sea.

Since I live very close to the coast, my friend and I thought we might visit the seaside to enjoy the wonderful almost spring day.

We wondered across the vast stone beaches, the sound of the waves crashing into the rocks about us,
stopping for a pot of tea and a slice of cake at a sweet, quaint cafe just off the promenade. Hazel opted for a spiced carrot cake and I found myself drawn to the layered coffee cake. I think its fair to say that homemade cake and a cup of tea are a perfect pick me up from the chilly February breeze.

Just as we were leaving a breathtaking sunset spread across the ocean, a vibrant display of reds, oranges and yellows lighting up the the beach huts and moored fishing boats. A perfect end to a perfect day.

To keep cosy and warm we both opted for a classic wax jacket, useful to keep the sea spray from soaking us but still fairly stylish. I have to say that I love a good old wax coat and couldn't live without mine, if you are looking for a long-lasting investment piece then I would thoroughly recommend either a Barbour (mine) or a Jack Murphy (Hazels).

My Frye Cowboy boots made their uptienth appearance and a pair of faded blue jeans, but my new found love at the moment, my Fat Face stripe shirt made its debut! Stripes are very 'in' at the moment and I have to say that I am loving the trend! I adore how the horizontal stripes create a laid back look on a classic fitted shirt. I can see myself getting a fair bit of wear out of it in the spring and summer months, particularly under my dungarees and floaty white skirts!

Hazel's mustard cardigan made its second appearance and she also went for some laid back jeans as when living in rural England jeans are a default! Some cute floral trainers and.. let me just take a breath and prepare myself.. a beautiful burnt orange Radley bag.

Isn't it just divine!

I hope you enjoyed an insight into my life living by the sea, I hope you have had a lovely week and I shall see you very soon!

Goodbye...

  1. Your so lucky you live so close to the beach! Unfortunately I live in Birmingham so beach visits are a rarity so I think I might have to buy myself a striped shirt to make up for it :) did you enjoy new York fashion week ? x

    1. I think that a stripe shirt is a must! I did, I am very excited to see Gingham and Grey making a comeback although I am a little nervous about the 70's theme running through a fair few of the collections! I have to say though I absolutely loved Peter Coppings classic, elegant designs for Oscar De La Renta, I hope you enjoyed fashion week too!

  2. Peter Copping did do an amazing job, his collection was wonderful :). My favourite has to be 'Red Valentino'; I love the mix of floral patterns and check patterns, although the 'Chloe Pre Autumn/Winter' collection was also lovely. I'm looking forward to seeing your review of the fashion weeks x

  3. That beach looks like something out of "Broadchurch", its so pretty! I know you have had a lot of requests recently but me and a few friends are going on a mini rake for 4 days to Budapest and was wondering if you could do a fashion travel guide? it would be a huge help, as were not going until September so it would give us chance to do some pre-holiday shopping xx :)
