Bonjour everyone! (I thought I'd try a different introduction this time!)

It is early July and if you are a fashion obsessive, such as myself. You probably will have gathered that it is....
Paris Fashion Haute Couture week!
Which means, unforgettable gowns, unique layering, intricate embellishment and above all the most classic street fashion known to human kind.
Paris to me is the home of class and couture. I remember my first visit to Paris almost as if it was yesterday, the rough cobbled lanes and awe-inspiring Baroque architecture. It was like a scene from a fairy-tale, a place all little girls dream of visiting. The city of romance.
I distinctly recall, my first stroll down a Parisian lane and being fascinated by the street fashion I saw. I could probably pin down the moment in Paris when I began to fall in love with fashion.
I was sat on the famous steps leading up to the "Sacre Coeur" looking out over the Parisian skyline when a lady passed me by, her beautiful billowing skirt wafting in the faint summer breeze, its soft nautical style a harsh contrast to it's pairing, a rough, black leather biker jacket and chunky brown
boots, but oddly the outfit worked. It fit together like peanut butter and jam. It was so French, so different that I had to admire her. I began to see fashion, not as clothes but as an art form, a way of expression.
I have consequently found, if it is humanly possible a book version of that feeling, it's called 'Paris Street Style' and its by Isabelle Thomas and Frederique Veysset. Its a beautiful little treasure of fashion, giving advice from more than 25 French fashion insiders. To be perfectly honest, everyone must own a copy- if you love fashion, particularly French and you love quirky books then this is most definitely for you! I found my copy in
Urbanoutfitters.co.uk but I am pretty sure they are widely available!

Apologies I seem to have gone on a bit of a ramble! To show you all why Paris holds a special place in my heart, particularly its fashion. I thought I would leave you all with a few of my favorite pieces from the Paris 2014/2015 Autumn Winter, Haute couture collections and a few of my favorite street style images from my favourite book of Paris street fashion. Enjoy and I will see you all very soon!

ReplyDeleteThank you very much!
DeleteIt depends on your price range- if you are looking for a high end option I would suggest somewhere like Ted Baker or Whistles.
Although if you are looking for a high street option then Asos.com do amazing dresses in various colours and styles, Boohoo.com also does a massive range or Yumi are a personal favourite of mine for individual takes on classic dresses.
I hope that gives you some idea's and inspiration-have a great time at the school dance!
That's great! I can't possibly say, it shall have to remain a surprise!
