Alright everyone!
So we in the UK have had constant gorgeous, sunny weather for days now and yet again the sun has been the inspiration behind this blog!

At the moment I am obsessed and I mean 'obsessed' with the new summer staple of dungarees. I first encountered dungarees when reading some of John Stienbeck's novels, particularly 'Of Mice and Men' and 'The Grapes of Wrath'. I fell in love with the rough, shabby and threadbare feel of the denim- which to me symbolized comfort, practicality and contentedness. It also meant that I could inject a little of the Wild West into the endless green fields of the South West of England.
Dungarees are versatile, wearable and will never go out of fashion. They are a brilliant new investment for your wardrobe. There are lots of variations of dungarees which you can find, ranging from skirt dungarees to pinafore styles but my two favourites are the traditional Long legged dungarees and short legged style. Particularly Short legged as you can wear them bare, with tights and they go with practically your whole shoe collection (including heals). Overall both styles are fantastic for all year round whilst remaining comfy and practical.

These have always been my go to garment for everyday summer wear and winter, I always make sure that I have a pair in my wardrobe. They come in so many different variations of fabric and colour. For example denim washes, floral patterns, corduroy and cotton to name but a few.
As dungarees are great to layer with I like to wear my pair- a dark/ mid denim wash with tights, boots and a long sleeved top or jumper in winter to keep me warm and cosy.

twist on the dungarees. |
In spring/summer I tend to pair my dungarees with Cowboy or combat boots and some converse for a more laid back look (as summer here in the UK can be quite cold!) but I also wear dungarees with flip flops and loafers for a more feminine approach. In the summer I will wear floaty blouses or tank tops underneath to keep me cool in the high summer heat. Recently I have started wearing short sleeve stripy tops under my dungarees as I love the feminine silhouette they create whilst giving an alternative twist on the sailor trend.
You can purchase your short pair of dungarees from practically anywhere, I got mine from
topshop.com which ship worldwide. However
http://www.jackwills.com/en-gb/home also do some lovely styles which come in on the 8th May and you are guaranteed to always find a pair on

Long Dungarees
I actually don't have a pair of long dungarees in my wardrobe but I think having seen some great examples of how to wear them that I may have to invest.
Long dungarees could be seen as a lot trickier to style than the shorter ones, however they lengthen anyone's leg length and are a really great alternative to jeans. They look amazing with a pair of heels on a night out- particularly the slim cotton style you can find on
asos.com, as they add elegance and quirkiness to a simple outfit However more often than not dungarees tend to be boyfriend fit, in which case heels add a curvaceous silhouette to the body.
But also they look lovely again with a pair of flip flops and boots, in particular short/ ankle boots look great, this kind of look would be great for casual summer days or festivals.

My friend Daisy and I went for a walk around the fields where we live during our break to breathe in the fresh air and to tackle the mud, long grass and prickly brambles Daisy chose to wear her amazing (Que jealousy...) boyfriend fit Topshop dungarees. She paired these with her black combat boots from
office.co.uk. This sort of outfit is perfect for those muggy, humid summer days and is easily transferable into the autumn and winter seasons.
I shall see you very soon!
