First Fashion Blog- Boots!

Okay, so here it goes my first fashion blog!

It is Winter here in England and the fashion accessory I have seen people wearing the most is a lovely pair of warm, winter boots.

So that it what I have chosen as the subject matter for today! I just love boots, I wear them all year round- even in the height of summer and am constantly on the look out for a new style which might take my fancy. Consequently I have for you today a little blog on one of my staple boot styles- the Cowboy boot and a newer introduction into my shoe cupboard- the Desert boot.

Cowboy Boots
I have to say, these are my go to boots! They are in all honesty the most comfy, practical but fantastic looking boots I own. Now, I know that they may not be everyone's cup of tea but you can get so many variations of the Cowboy boot that there is most definitely one out there for everyone!

How you could wear them.....
If you prefer a short cowboy boots ( like me) then you have an abundance of options of how to wear them and which to choose from.

You could go for the classic Boot cut jeans- which will always look great. But I prefer to wear mine with skinny jeans rolled up, as this makes your body appear a lot slimmer. Also, as an alternative to jeans, shorter boots look best when paired with a long to mid-length skirt- something just above or bellow the knee. Personally I think maxi skirts are the perfect accompaniment to cowboy boots, as they create a slim silhouette and soften the bulkiness of the top of the boot.

But if you want to wear longer cowboy boots, I would wear them with shorter skirts as this makes your legs appear longer and slimmer.
For example, skater skirts paired with cowboy boots really flatter a curvy figure and cowboy boots with smock dresses flatter a slimmer figure.
An alternative outfit to mix up the stereotypical cowgirl look would be paring the boots with an on trend pinafore dress or a 1960's shift dress and maybe a black leather jacket- but cowboy boots are so versatile I think they go with almost anything!

I believe the best Cowboy boots on the market, if you're looking for the higher priced option are  Frye boots- which come in around £150-£400 in the UK and $200-$500 (however eBay sell Frye boots really cheaply if you like the brand but the retail price is too high for you).
My boots are Frye and I can honestly say that are the best quality and most beautifully made boots out there.
I have had mine for over two years now and they still look as though I have just brought them so they are definitely worth the extra cost!
You can find them on their main website-http://www.thefryecompany.com/ which now also ship to the UK as well as the US. Or if you are from the UK and would prefer a simpler shipping option amazon also stock them but have a smaller range- http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=frye

If you are looking for a cheaper, option I would take a trip to Schuh as they have a fantastic cowboy boot range from brands including 'Rocket Dog' and 'Red or Ded'- http://www.schuh.co.uk/prdsearch.aspx?searchterm=cowboy&sterm=cowboy&js=1

Desert boots
Healed desert boots
These are a new find for me. Upon first seeing them I was a little bit apprehensive, although when I did a bit more market research and discovered all the different variations on the style, I was won over!

I have a pair of heeled desert boots, but you can also find them in their traditional style with the softer crepe sole.

How you could wear them....

I tend to wear desert boots with a pair of boot-cut jeans which lengthens the leg or with a pair of slim fit easy style jeans. However sometimes I like to wear them skinny jeans turned up or skirts and dresses with socks showing over the top- this gives a really cute and fun twist on a simple outfit of jeans and a jumper. This means you can match the colours of your outfit with the socks you are wearing too!

When I wear my desert boots with a skirt or dress I tend to wear a dress that falls just below or above the knee and is very feminine. This is because the desert boot has a fairly boyish shape so you want to balance that with a feminine outfit.

If you were looking for traditional desert boots, you can look no further than Clarks where they were first made-http://www.clarks.co.uk/c/originals-desert-boots

But if you want a variation on the desert boot then I suggest office-http://www.office.co.uk/view/search?search=desert+boots or I found mine in Jones the Bootmaker-http://www.jonesbootmaker.com/

If you managed to read this all, congratulations! I'm really sorry it was so long, I didn't realize how much I could write about two shoe styles!

I hope you enjoyed my first blog:)
I'll see you very soon!
